Kitul is a unique crescent-shaped bag made of two types of leather.

The bag consists of one large compartment and two inner compartments – one with a zip. In addition, there is also a compartment with a zip on the back of the bag (toward the body).

The bag is sewn by our partner in India.

Leather & care

The leather: This product is sewn in leather that is free of chrome, heavy metals, formaldehyde, chlorinated paraffins and azo dyes.
Care: The wallet can be used as it is. This will give a quicker patina.
If you instead wish to protect the wallet against dirt, liquids and stains, it is a good idea to impregnate (spray) it before use. Though, the patina can not be avoided throughout the years - this is the charm of leather and makes your wallet unique.
NOTE: Impregnation can give the leather a different feel. Always test on the back first.
Patina: The brown leather will patina and become darker and less "perfect" in appearance over time. The black leather will also patina, but retain its color.
The patina comes automatically with use, rain, sunscreen and whatever else a bag is exposed to.

Crossover crescent bag in black leather

The Kitul bag is simple, yet very unique. It has a crescent shape and is composed of two unique types of leather.
The bag is a modern classic that can be used both at work, at school or for festive events.
It easily holds a wallet, mobile phone, hand sanitizer, lip balm, glasses and other necessities.

The bag consists of a large open compartment and two smaller compartments on the outside and inside of the bag. The compartment on the inside has a zipper. In addition, there is also a compartment with a zip on the back of the bag (toward the body) that can be accessed from the outside.

The leather on the Kitul bag

The leather is black. The black color appears "light black" from new. The bag continuously acquires a really beautiful patina, which will give the leather a darker/deeper black shade - darkest towards the body, as there is constant "touch"/wear here.

Crossover bag in leather: Kitul - about the name

The Kitul bags are named after Kitulgala – a small spot in the south-west of Sri Lanka. It is an exaggeration to call it a town, as at first glance it is just a kiosk and a few houses along the side of the road.
However, there is a special reason why an increasing number of people choose to get off the bus in the middle of this mountainous landscape where the tall trees of the forest tower and the vegetation radiates lushness: namely the Kelani River.

The river runs over 145 km, making it one of Sri Lanka's longest rivers. It supplies the entire 80% of the capital with water and is also used for everything from generating electricity, transport, fishing – and well! White Water Rafting!

An experience filled with excitement

When I was in Sri Lanka in 2018, of course I had to try it. I had read in advance that there was a bus from Colombo. You simply turned up, and then the bus drove when there was no more room. The system worked surprisingly well – unless you had to achieve something, of course. After 3-4 hours on the road, the bus stopped and we were politely but firmly waved off the bus with the words "Here!". We were skeptical, but it turned out that the stop was actually Kitulgala. I had booked a wooden cabin, which was approximately 800 meters from the road down a small, discreet path.

From the open log cabin we could look down on the rushing Kelani River, and soon after arriving we were wearing safety gear and heading down to the river in tow on an inflatable boat. After some brief instructions, we were off. The adrenaline rose and I also clung to the boat's handle several times along the way. We were in Sri Lanka outside the rainy season, so the river was not as wild as at other times of the year. In turn, this meant that there was also time to enjoy the trip through the rich nature and the beautiful mountain landscape that embraced the river - you couldn't ask for a better view. Towards the end of the "route" we all jumped into the river with our life jackets on and let the current carry us further down the river.
The next day we also went on a trip where we had the opportunity to swim in a waterfall and rappel along the smaller sections of the river.
An absolutely perfect experience that I will never forget and can highly recommend!
